Re: Blogs
Let me start off by saying that I’ve never been fond of blogs. Mostly, it’s because I don’t really care to read what other people are thinking. Everyone’s got an opinion these days and, typically speaking, I don’t want to listen to the rants of some 13-year-old kid.
Lately, however, I’ve started to come around to the idea of blogging. I’ve had the opportunity to read some good blogs. Blogs that really got me thinking about my own life and about the culture that we live in. Blogs that challenged me. And so, much to my dismay, my staunch opposition to this evil entity known as the blog is steadfastly disintingrating.
I have always been in love with writing, and so I guess it’s about time I joined in on the blog revolution. There certainly is value in writing out our thoughts. I have to concede, as well, that there’s also value in reading other’s thoughts–even if it means we have to sort through a bunch of rubbish.
So here I go. I write here not to rant, although I’m sure I will. To be honest, I’m not even writing to be read. I write for myself, I think, for a lot of reasons. I write because I must–because the thoughts that dwell in my head scream to be released, and I get tired of holding them in. I write because I enjoy writing, and because I realize that I can use the practice. And, to be honest, I write because I enjoy reading my own words, because my own thoughts are much more entertaining to me than those of some random 13-year-old.
Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy your stay.
Over a year since I first penned these words. What an amazing journey it has been for me since then! I’ve discovered so much about myself, and I’ve grown a lot (I hope) in spirit, intellect, and maturity. I first started this blog just because I wanted to try blogging out, but I’ve realized since then that I simply love writing. Writing–and blogging–is something I plan on doing for the rest of my life.
